Upon arriving at Millennium Surgery Center, Inc. on the day of surgery you will be checked in by one of our Registration Specialists. For the convenience of our patients’ family and visitors we do have a comfortable waiting area with TV and coffee available. Please bring a sweater if you tend to be cold. After registration you will be escorted to our preoperative area. After preparation for surgery is complete, a family member may sit with you until time for your surgery. In the pre-op area you will meet the anesthesiologist who will review your history, answer your questions and discuss the anesthesia plan with you.
Things to Remember
– DO arrive one hour prior to surgery to allow adequate time for admission procedures.
– DO wear loose fitting comfortable clothes.
– DO bring completed Anesthesia Pre-op Evaluation and Medication Reconciliation Form.
– DO NOT smoke or drink alcohol 24 hours prior to surgery.
– DO not wear makeup or jewelry including body piercings, naval and/or tongue rings.
– DO bathe or shower prior to coming to the surgery center.
– DO leave all valuables at home except driver’s license, insurance card and your co-pay (if applicable).
– DO have someone to drive you home after your surgery and stay with you for 24 hours. Patients may not go home via bus and can only go home via cab if accompanied by a responsible adult.
Your Surgery
From the preoperative area you will be taken to the operating room, where every effort will be made to assure your safety and comfort during your procedure. Your surgeon will perform the procedure, assisted by our registered nurses and surgical technicians. Your anesthesia will be continually monitored by your anesthesiologist. By using state-of-the-art equipment combined with highly trained staff we are able to provide positive patient outcomes with fast recovery and incredibly low infection rates.
Anesthesia Care
Anesthesia is a critical part of any surgical procedure. All of our anesthesiologists are thoroughly trained in the field of anesthesiology. Your anesthetic will be determined by the anesthesiologist in conjunction with you and your physician. Special care is exercised to allay anxiety, minimize discomfort and prevent post-operative nausea. Please let your anesthesiologist know if you have a history of post-operative nausea. Our anesthesiologists are dedicated to providing superior care and a comfortable anesthetic experience.
